i've sat down many times over the past year to catch up but something more important always seems to come up or i just run out of energy to tell my story here.
i've thought about what story i want to tell here. who listens. what kind of impact i could be making. this has never been a huge blog but i've had a few "high five, me too!" moments and made connections here that are still strong today.
so this teeny space deserved some sort of a catch up.
i'll start with today.

that's eliot holding the photo of our 14 week old babe. we went for an ultrasound after a couple days of spotting. everything appeared to be healthy and on track. thank you, god.
we wanted and planned for this third baby for a long time. a very long time. we got to a point where i was throwing in the towel to the idea that someone was still missing. it hurt. every single month there were tears. it was a humbling experience though to be reminded that we just aren't in control - we need to let go of our grand plans and things will happen in their own time.
so finally, in early novemeber, i got that wave of familiar nausea and let myself pee on a stick. i was finally getting good at waiting for my damn period to smack me in the face and save $13 on pee sticks. but this time, i just knew.
it was negative. and i went downstairs to make the kids breakfast with a funny feeling in my stomach. later that morning, i fished it out of the trash (like a crazy person) to find one very faint line. i was about 3.5 weeks along. i romantically broke the news to will with the ghost pee stick as he was doing laundry that night.
fast forward many weeks of horrible nausea and barfing, little running, way too many bagels, and finding one amazing homebirth midwife and here we are.

we do love fat babies :)

they're also both involved in every midwife appointment which is adorable. we found an absolute angel who lives just across our little town so she comes to our house for appointments and we drink our coffee together and all listen to the baby. pretty much the best thing ever.

and our little town! we (finally) moved last may to a little (to us) town and a house that checked just about everything off our list - we're right near our favorite bike/jogging path and can walk to the cutest little ice cream and burger places and the library AND our favorite - the creek right in our backyard.

we're planning out our garden and chicken coop for the spring, will be attempting to put some doors up to turn a pointless sitting room into a nursery, and are all so very excited to welcome this third baby in july.
life is such a freakin zoo and i wouldn't have it any other way. there's such beauty and perfection in this grand plan of which we have no control. every time i used to post, we were always searching for some sort of simplicity in life - thinking that if only we could somehow eliminate all the life clutter, we could truly be able to stop and enjoy. in the last year, i've learned that just isn't true. there's no stopping this spinning, chaotic zoo. you just have to hold on real tight and make a choice that you're where you're meant to be and you'll enjoy it.
